Gustavo Beck is professor of Psychology at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, where he also graduated, as well as a translator of books and essays on psychology and the humanities, and a clinical psychologist with a private practice in Mexico City. He received a Ph.D. in Mythological Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. His dissertation is an in-depth reading of James Hillman’s Re-visioning Psychology. He trained in depth archetypal psychology at the Instituto de Psicologia Profunda in Mexico (Institute for Depth Psychology in Mexico), where he currently teaches and serves as a clinical supervisor. His interests revolve essentially around archetypal theory, particularly regarding its impact over contemporary social, cultural, and political issues. He is a co-founder of and contributor to the Journal of Archetypal Studies, which was created in order to foster a broader and more critical conversation around the ideas presented by archetypal theory.
