Klaus Ottmann, Ph.D., is the publisher and editor-in-chief of Spring Publications, Inc. and Deputy Director for Curatorial and Academic Affairs at The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. He has written numerous essays on art, design, and philosophy, and is the author of several books. At Spring, he has been instrumental in publishing the 10-volume Uniform Edition of the Writings of James Hillman (2004 – ). His books include The Essential Mark Rothko (2003), The Genius Decision: The Extraordinary and the Postmodern Condition (2004), James Lee Byars: Life, Love, and Death (2004), Yves Klein by Himself: His Life and Thought (2010), and Hiroshi Sugimoto: Conceptual Forms and Mathematical Models (2015). He translated and published the complete writings of Yves Klein (Overcoming the Problematics of Art: The Writings of Yves Klein), Gershom Scholem’s Alchemy and Kabbalah, and F. W. J.
